Sensors have been required by law since 1993, so if your garage door is older than that, no, you’ll not be able to add safety sensors.
Here’s why – Garage Door manufacturers no longer make upgrade kits for garage door openers that are that old.

If you’re garage door only opens a couple of feet and then stops, it’s likely a setting is off.
Most garage door opener units have a force or sensitivity adjustment. You may just need to adjust that a bit.
You definitely don’t want to over-do it.
This issue can sometimes be caused by some other problem as well, and adjusting the sensitivity too much then causes a snow-ball effect.
If a very slight adjustment fails to correct the door opening process, we urge you to stop tinkering with it and call a professional.

We hear of this issue quite a bit. Here’s what happens; The cables for the garage door are connected to the springs, which counterbalance the entire dead-weight of the garage door.
It usually takes special tools and know-how to get garage door cables to reset properly and safely.
We urge all homeowners to NOT try and repair this yourself. Garage door cables and springs are under tremendous tension and should they come loose are extremely dangerous.

Sorry, there is no garage door that is designed to be 100% air and water tight. Modern doors are much better than the old style wood doors, but still no garage door is 100% tight.
For example, in heavy rain conditions, if the area around your garage door is sloped slightly toward the doors, a bit of water can still sometimes get in. It’s usually not a problem though.

Yes, when we install a new garage door, trim seals are replaced and come with the package.
Today’s energy efficient doors have R-values that range from 6 to 19, but the trimseals help control air exchange around the doors and are just as important as R-value.

Red bolts are a warning that they are under tension, either from the springs or the cables.
DO NOT remove these bolts unless you are a professional. If a spring or cable on the garage door is released because a red bolt was loosened or removed, you can be struck and seriously injured.
